Students can learn about meteorological phenomena and explore real data using the tools available. LEADs features meet the needs of beginning, intermediate-level, and advanced students in undergraduate and pre-college settings.

Students at all levels can:

Create a personal account and storage space for the results of data searches and assignments. Try it
Search for data sets by choosing the geographic region, time frame, data source, and type of data. Try it
Visualize your data in 2-D and 3-D using the Integrated Data Viewer (IDV). This tool lets you see patterns in the data by manipulating and rotating the image. You can combine multiple data sets to reveal even more interesting patterns in weather phenomena. Try it
Browse or search through a glossary of weather terms, instruments, models, and units. Try it

Intermediate students can also:

Understand weather systems by examining case studies and IDV files that have been packaged with LEAD-to-Learn Modules.

Try running an experiment to produce a visualization of specific data that you choose. Ask your teacher for more information.
Try it

Advanced students can also:

Run more sophisticated experiments to produce a Weather Research and Forecast model (WRF) forecast. Ask your teacher for more information.

Investigate more advanced LEAD-to-Learn modules and case histories.
